Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What products does Agnitar offer?

Agnitar manufactures a full range of gaseous fire suppression systems:

  • Agnitar 200 (HFC-227ea, also known as FM-200)
  • Agnitar 5112 (FK-5-1-12, also known as Novec 1230)
  • Agnitar Inert (IG-541, IG-100, IG-55, IG-01)
  • Agnitar COâ‚‚ (Carbon Dioxide)
  • Agnitar Cabinet (DLP) - Uses HFC-227ea (FM-200) and FK-5-1-12 (Novec 1230)
  • Agnitar Kitchen
Are your systems certified?

Yes. All Agnitar systems comply with NFPA, ISO, and EN standards.

Our components are certified by leading international bodies such as UL, FM, VdS, LPCB, TPED and CE.

How does a CO2 fire suppression system work?

CO2 extinguishes fire by reducing oxygen levels in the protected area.

  • Advantages: No residue, non-conductive, fast response.
  • Applications: Data centers, transformer rooms, petrochemical plants, industrial production areas.
Are inert gas systems environmentally friendly?

Yes. Inert gases (IG-541, IG-100, IG-55, IG-01) occur naturally in the atmosphere.

They have zero ozone depletion potential and a very low global warming potential.

What is the difference between FM-200 (HFC-227ea) and Novec 1230 (FK-5-1-12)?
  • HFC-227ea (FM-200): Long-established, reliable, and fast-acting clean agent.
  • FK-5-1-12 (Novec 1230): More eco-friendly, very low GWP, safe for occupied areas.
What is CO2 local application fire suppression system?

CO2 local application focuses gas discharge directly on the fire source instead of flooding the entire room.

It uses less agent, lowers cost, and is ideal for electrical panels, machinery, and production lines.

Who installs and maintains the systems?

Installation and maintenance are carried out by Agnitar-authorized expert teams worldwide.

With regular service, our systems are covered by a 10-year manufacturing defect warranty if the system maintenance held on each 6 months period by authorised teams.

What is a room integrity test?

A door fan test is performed to check air-tightness.

It ensures the extinguishing agent stays in the room for at least 10 minutes, as required by NFPA 2001 Annex C.

What is a hydrostatic test?

Fire suppression cylinders must undergo hydrostatic testing every 10 years.

Cylinders are tested at 1.5 times their working pressure to guarantee safety.

Are the systems safe for occupied areas?

HFC-227ea (FM-200) and FK-5-1-12 (Novec 1230) are safe for occupied spaces.

CO2 systems are designed for non-occupied areas. When used, they include additional safety devices (lock-out valves, alarms, sirens).

Which industries use Agnitar systems?

Our systems are widely used in:

  • Data centers and telecom facilities
  • Museums, archives, and libraries
  • Energy plants, transformers, and generators
  • Petrochemical and chemical storage
  • Industrial facilities and manufacturing lines
  • Commercial kitchens, hotels, and restaurants
How are the systems activated in case of fire?
  • Automatic activation: Triggered by smoke, heat, or flame detectors.
  • Manual activation: Via emergency push button or pull station.
